Accepting donations in non-US currencies overview

Getting started

The International Payments feature allows your organization to accept online donations in Canadian dollars (CAD), Euros (EUR), or British pounds (GBP). This functionality is available on online action forms once you are connected to Stripe via Stripe Connect and have the feature enabled by Support.

Feature details

  • The International Payments feature is designed to expand your donor reach and support contributors in their local currencies. After enablement, the form builder provides options to select which currencies to accept and to set a default currency that displays when the form loads. Donors can switch currencies if more than one is available, and pre-set donation amounts will be converted and rounded accordingly. The system uses real-time conversion to process all donations in USD while still preserving the original contribution currency for display and reporting.
  • When setting up a form, a notice will appear on the Basics step confirming that your Stripe-connected designation supports non-US currencies. On the Build step, you'll select the processing currencies and set a default. Donors will see appropriate currency symbols and receive confirmation messages that reflect their selected currency using the Contribution Currency merge field, which is included in the suggested text for the Thank You Page and Thank You Email by default.
  • When viewing a contact’s record, the Contribution record displays both the USD amount and the Processed Amount, which reflects the original currency used by the donor.

  • If the donor has a recurring commitment, their contributions appear in the correct currency within the Recurring Commitments section of the All Details page.

Tracking your success / Reporting

Track donation performance across currencies using the Processed Amount and Processed Currency fields in standard reports like the Contribution Report, Online Activity Report, and Recurring Commitment Report. These columns are available even if a designation is not currently enabled for International Payments. To track USD gifts from international supporters, use the Country field in searches and reports.
