1) Do free-form text boxes search based on my exact content or similar content?

Free-form text boxes search for similar content, not just exact matches. 
 

2) Can I use 'Pinned Notes' as criteria for searching?

Yes, in the 'Notes' section, you should find an option to 'Include only notes that are pinned' so you can limit your search to records with a pinned note. If you are exporting a list and want to include a pinned note, it will only include the most recent one added to a particular contact.

3) Why do different tools show different results for the same data?

Create A List: Counts unique people once, regardless of how many times they were canvassed; Uses the most recent response for each person.

Canvass Results: Counts every contact instance separately. This helps track canvassing activities over time, but results in higher numbers than Create A List.

Counts & Crosstabs: Counts unique people but includes individuals suppressed in Create A List for analytical purposes. Totals may differ when data fields (such as Date of Birth) are missing for some people.

4) Can I add additional search criteria after I run my initial search?

Yes! Once you run your search, you should be taken to your 'My List' page, which displays your search results. Click the 'Edit Search' button and select 'Edit Existing Search' from the dropdown menu.
