If your organization files compliance or disclosure reports, you can create Ticketed Events which you can manually link to the contribution and disbursement records for your attendees or use Source Codes to create automatic links that will make it easier for you to track reportable funds.
Requirements for creating your event
Although our event tools allow you to create your own Event Types that can be used for many purposes, the only Event Type that can be used for compliance purposes is Ticketed Events. If your Committee is set up to use a report that includes Events in the compliance reporting, you will see a warning if you try to create a new Event Type.
You can begin creating a Ticketed Event the same way you would for any non-reportable event. If your Committee is set up to use a report that includes Events in the compliance reporting, you will see a reminder about the event type to use for disclosures when you select Create New Event.

When you get to the Tickets setup step, you will need to add the Designation you use for your compliance reporting. If your Committee is set up to use compliance reports that include disclosable Events, you will see colored warning text reminding you to set your Designation.
Source Codes help you automatically track the contributions and disbursements that are associated with your event and make it easier to create your compliance reports. If you later need to change the associated Source Code, be sure to Unlink any contributions or disbursements you no longer wish associated with the event and relink any that should be associated with your event. This can sometimes trip you up when filing Disclosure Reports, so please review your links before filing your reports.
Other information may be required depending on the type of report or state in which you are filing. For more help, review the guidelines for your state or for the type of report you are filing.

Managing linked contributions and disbursements from the event page
You can View, Link, and Unlink contributions and disbursements to your event from the Event page. This will make it easier to correct any mistakes before you submit your disclosure reports.
On the Event details page, open the section for Contributions associated with this event or for Disbursements associated with this event. You can then View or Unlink individual entries or Link to an existing contribution or disbursement manually.
Managing linked contributions and disbursements from the contact record
To link a new or existing contribution or disbursement from the contact record to your event, open the Contributions or Disbursements section from the contact details. Add or View the entry you want to include and enter the same Source Code you used for your event. Your entry should now be linked to your event. You can open your Event details page to confirm this link.
You can also Unlink contributions or disbursements manually from the contact record.
To Unlink a contribution, open the Contributions section and then View the contribution you wish to remove. Scroll down to the Linked Events section and select Unlink to remove the link to your event.
You can Unlink disbursements by opening the Disbursement section and selecting Edit for the entry you want to unlink. Scroll down to the Linked Events section and select Unlink.
Reviewing your event data before creating your reports
Before you file any of your disclosure reports, you’ll want to review your records to make sure there are no errors.
To review individual events, open the Event List page (available from the Sidebar), and filter by Designation to find all the events that will be included in your disclosures. You can then select an individual event to review and make any corrections or adjustments needed.
There are also two reports available in the Report Manager that will help you review your record on each event before you file your compliance reports.
