Relationships Overview

Getting Started

Relationships in EveryAction allow you to track connections between contacts in your database, whether they're family members, colleagues, or involved in other personal or professional associations. To access relationships, navigate to a contact record and click on the "Relationships" tab. From there, you can view existing relationships or add new ones to build a comprehensive network of connections within your database.

Feature Details

Relationships are bidirectional connections that automatically create reciprocal entries when established between two contacts. For example, if you designate Contact A as the "parent of" Contact B, the system will automatically create a corresponding "child of" relationship from Contact B to Contact A. This ensures consistency and reduces data entry time when mapping complex networks of relationships.

EveryAction provides both system-defined relationship types (such as spouse, child, employer) and the flexibility to create custom relationship types that reflect your organization's unique needs. Each relationship can include additional details such as start/end dates and notes to provide context and temporal information about the connection. This structured approach to relationship management helps your organization understand the full scope of a contact's network and influence.

Tip: Use Relationship Types Effectively

  1. Choose relationship types that best represent the connection between contacts:

    1. Family relationships (spouse, parent, child, sibling)

    2. Professional relationships (employer, coworker)

    3. Organizational connections (board member, staff member)

  1. Relationship types help categorize connections and can be used for targeted communications
