Advanced Support Consultant Spotlight: End-of-Year Giving

Hi everyone! As some of you may know, I lead our amazing team of Advanced Support Consultants here at Bonterra for our Fundraising and Engagement tools. This month we introduced an “ASC Spotlight” section into our monthly newsletter. Each month we’ll be sharing topics/tips and also highlighting work that we have done with our clients. So, onto the show…

In my experience with clients (over eighteen years' worth!), I've found that simple plans you can stick to will always beat complicated checklists in terms of both productivity and overall return. I've come up with a few examples of plans I'd recommend putting into place that tie in directly to some specific EveryAction features; these ideas will help keep you on track during one of the busiest and most important times of the year.

Plans to have in place:

  • A plan to convert one-time Giving Tuesday donors to sustainers. In EveryAction, you can turn on the Recurring Upsell option on your year-end form, and send a short follow-up message to a saved search of "Giving Tuesday Donors."

  • A plan to reach people who engaged with you on Giving Tuesday, but ultimately didn't give. EveryAction gives you the option to build a saved search for "Opened or Clicked GT, No Gift," and then send a clear update with a single button. (Bonus option: you can use real-time suppression so anyone who donates won't get any further emails on the topic!)

  • A plan to make matching gifts easy. EveryAction has the option for you to enable "Employer Match lookup" on your form, and you can easily send a short post-gift reminder message for your supporter to submit their match.

  • A plan to protect and grow your recurring revenue. By turning on "failed payment notices" and "card update" emails - and including a "Change Payment Method" link in your receipts, you can avoid failed transactions, and even add a light "upgrade ask" for active sustainers.

  • A plan to use predictive data. With Bonterra Que and DonorTrends in EveryAction, you can easily filter for supporters who are likely to upgrade, lapse, or give again - and then tailor those asks by those segmented groups.
