How to edit and manually set FH names

How do I edit the financial household export and reporting fields related to names? It seems to be automatically generated, but there have been some glaring errors that we’d like to manually edit and avoid.

I exported a list of donors with the field “Financial Household Salutation Informal,” and one of those names includes a deceased household member. Yikes! He’s marked as deceased in EA, and his living wife’s info had been edited to include only her name in the “Name” section of her profile. So why is his name auto populating if EA knows he’s deceased?

My priorities for solving this are:

  1. Find a way to manually edit FH names via a hidden field somewhere.
  2. Understand where those auto generated names are populating from. That includes the various related fields for formal, informal, salutation, name, etc.

It’s not an option for us to close a financial household after one member is deceased due to accounting purposes.

Another problem: I just used the “Fhh salutation” as a merge field on a targeted email, expecting it to include names for everybody on my list. Instead, that merge field showed up as blank for nearly everyone. There is NO associated export field available tht matches that tag exactly - so I had absolutely NO way of knowing what it would result in ahead of time!

The “Financial household salutation - informal” and “Financial household salutation - formal” export fields both show an accurate name.

This is a major bug in Every Action’s system that has left our organization with egg on our face. Please patch this and provide clarification on export and merge fields.

Hi Lark,

In order to see/edit the name fields for a financial household please do the following.
1. Navigate to the contact record for a member of the household
2. In the left bar scroll down to “Financial Households” and click on it to open the financial household panel which will appear on the right.
3. That will show you the various naming options under acknowledgement details
4. If you need to edit them, select the edit button. It is the one shaped like a pencil

The merge field behavior you are experiencing is NOT expected behavior. Please put in a support ticket and reference this thread so our team can take a look.

Joe, thanks for your patience. My apologies for the gruff tone of my last ask. I’ve submitted a support ticket so we can iron this out and figure out where exactly the issue lies in the CRM.

Hi @Joe Conley! Is there a way to use Bulk Edit or Bulk Upload to edit FHH names in bulk?

No apology needed! I’m excited that we finally have this space specifically so we can receive unfiltered feedback!

@Sally Heaven Unfortunately, that function doesn’t exist today

Ah, that’s too bad. If an organization has a lot of FHHs with blank names and salutations, bulk edit would be a way to efficiently fill in those values using spreadsheets to populate the fields. Easy to edit manually when it’s a handful, more daunting when it’s hundreds or even thousands.
