When tracking non-cash contributions, you may need to apply attributions or soft credits to reflect giving relationships more accurately. These tools help account for entities like donor-advised funds or corporate matches that are associated with a contribution but are not the direct donor.
Step 1: Add a new non-cash contribution
- Navigate to Contributions > Add Contribution.
- Begin entering the non-cash contribution details such as Payment Method, Amount, Date, and Donor Name.
Step 2: Add attribution and soft credit details
Use the appropriate sections of the form to enter:
- Attributions, such as:
- Donor-Advised Fund
- Corporate Matching Gift
- Workplace/Federated Giving
- Family/Private Foundation Gift
- Raised Funds
- Donor Matched Gift
- Employee Giving
- Soft Credits to credit individuals or organizations who influenced the gift but are not the primary donor.
NOTE: These fields ensure that the value and influence of supporting entities are captured in your records and reports for non-cash gifts.
Step 3: Save and report
- Click Save to complete the entry.
- Attribution and soft credit information for non-cash contributions will now appear in your reports and searchable fields.
