Tribute gifts allow donors to make contributions in honor or memory of someone special, adding emotional significance to their donation.
Step 1: Access the Tribute Gifts section
- Create or edit a contribution form in Online Actions
- On the Build Page step, scroll to the "Tribute Gifts and Memberships" section
- If you don't see this section, click "Add a Section" and select "Tribute Gifts and Memberships"
- The section will now appear in your form editor
Step 2: Configure tribute gift options
- Enter a heading for the section (e.g., "Tribute Gifts")
- Add descriptive text explaining tribute gifts to donors
- Check the box labeled "Enable Tribute Gifts"
- This activates the tribute gift functionality on your form
Step 3: Set up tribute types
- Choose which tribute types to offer:
In Honor Of - For celebrating achievements, birthdays, etc.
In Memory Of - For memorializing someone who has passed away
- You can offer both types or just one
- For each type, enter the label that will appear on the form
- Consider customizing labels to match your organization's tone and terminology
Step 4: Configure notification options
- Decide whether to allow donors to send notifications about tribute gifts
- If enabled, donors can provide contact information for the honoree or their family
- Set up notification fields:
Recipient name
Email address
Physical address (if sending mail notifications)
- Choose whether these notification fields are required or optional
Step 5: Test and publish your form
- Preview your form to see how the tribute gift section appears
- Test the tribute gift workflow by making a test donation
- Verify that all tribute information is captured correctly
- Check that notification options work as expected
- Publish your form when ready
