Step 1: Access the Recurring Settings
- Create or edit a contribution form in Online Actions
- On the Build Page step, scroll to the "Recurring Settings" section
- If you don't see this section, click "Add a Section" and select "Recurring Settings"
- The section will now appear in your form editor
Step 2: Enable the recurring upsell lightbox
- Within the Recurring Settings section, check the box labeled "Enable Recurring Upsell Lightbox"
- This activates the lightbox feature that will appear after one-time donors submit the form
- The lightbox will ask if they'd like to convert their donation to a monthly gift
Step 3: Configure the lightbox content
- Enter a compelling headline for the lightbox (e.g., "Make Your Impact Monthly!")
- Add descriptive text explaining the benefits of monthly giving
- Highlight the impact of sustained support
- Keep the message concise and persuasive
- Consider mentioning that monthly gifts help your organization plan more effectively
Step 4: Set recurring donation options
- Choose whether to offer the same amount or a different amount for recurring donations
- If offering a different amount, specify the suggested monthly gift amount
- This amount is typically lower than the one-time gift to make monthly giving more attractive
For example, if someone donates 100 one−time, you might suggest 15/month
Step 5: Test and optimize your lightbox
- Preview your form to test the full donation flow
- Make a one-time donation to see how the lightbox appears
- Test both accepting and declining the recurring offer
- After publishing, monitor the conversion rate of the lightbox
- Experiment with different messages and suggested amounts to improve conversion
