Overview

Linear Scripts guide canvassers through a single, straightforward conversation. They are best for simple asks or fast-paced outreach where everyone follows the same flow.

Step 1: Prepare required items

Before creating a Linear Script, confirm you already have:

  • Activist Codes

  • Survey Questions

Note: Only existing Activist Codes and Survey Questions can be added to a Script. Once added, they no longer appear in the dropdown list.

Step 2: Create a new Script

  • Start from the EveryAction Home page. In the left-hand menu, click Tracking & Codes > Scripts. Or use the Search for a page field and type Scripts

  • Choose Linear as the Script type.

  • Enter the requested Script details.

  • Select Add New Script.

  • Open the Scripts page.

  • Choose Linear as the Script type.

Important

  • Scripts can only be edited in the Owner Committee where they were created.

  • Scripts can be shared with other committees.

Step 3: Add Script elements

Add elements one at a time:

  • Text – introductions, messaging, transitions, and goodbyes

  • Survey Questions

  • Activist Codes

As you build:

  • Elements appear in Script Preview

  • Drag elements to reorder them

  • Use Edit, Delete, and Save order when finished

Step 4: Select Canvass Result Options

  • Choose additional Canvass Result Options from the checkboxes in the right column.

⚠️ Warning: Options like Moved, Wrong Number, Deceased, and Do Not Email mark contact data as bad and affect other users’ searches. Review usage with canvassers first.
