Adding custom questions to your Online Actions forms helps you gather specific information from supporters and map their responses to your database.
Step 1: Access the Questions section
- Create or edit an Online Actions form
- On the Build Page step, scroll to the "Questions" section
- Click "Add Question" to begin creating a new question
- You'll see options for configuring your question
Step 2: Choose a question type
- Select the appropriate question type from the dropdown:
Checkboxes - Allow multiple selections
Radio Buttons - Allow one selection from multiple options
Dropdown - Space-saving single selection
Text - Single line text entry
Textarea - Multi-line text entry
Hidden - Not visible to users but stores data
- Your choice determines how the question will appear and what data it can collect
Step 3: Configure your question
- Enter the question text that will appear on the form
- For checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns, add response options
- Set whether the question is required or optional
- Choose the display order of the question on your form
- For text fields, you can set a character limit if needed
Step 4: Map responses to your database
- Each question type can be mapped differently:
Checkboxes - Map each response to an Activist Code
Radio Buttons - Map responses to Activist Codes or a Survey Question
Dropdown - Map to a Survey Question
Text/Text area - Map to a Contact field or Custom Field
- Select the appropriate mapping option for your question
- Choose the specific field or code from the dropdown
Step 5: Save and test your questions
- Click "Save" to add the question to your form
- Add additional questions as needed
- Reorder questions by dragging and dropping
- Preview your form to see how questions appear
- Test submissions to verify that responses are correctly mapped to your database
