Mapping questions allows you to connect form responses directly to your EveryAction database, automatically updating contact records with the information collected.
Step 1: Understand mapping options
- Different question types can be mapped to different fields in your database:
Checkboxes - Map to Activist Codes (each option can be a separate code)
Radio Buttons - Map to Activist Codes or Survey Questions
Dropdown - Map to Survey Questions
Text/Text area - Map to Contact Fields or Custom Fields
Hidden - Map to various field types
- Choose mapping options based on how you want to use the data
Step 2: Map Checkbox questions
- Create or edit a Checkbox question
- For each response option, click "Map to Activist Code"
- Select the specific Activist Code from the dropdown
- When a supporter selects that option, they'll automatically receive that Activist Code
- You can alternatively display Checkbox questions as a Multi-Select Dropdown by changing the display type
Step 3: Map Radio Button or Dropdown questions
- Create or edit a Radio Button or Dropdown question
- Click "Map to Survey Question"
- Select an existing Survey Question or create a new one
- Match each response option to a Survey Response
- When a supporter selects an option, their response will be recorded to that Survey Question
Step 4: Map Text or Textarea questions
- Create or edit a Text or Text area question
- Click "Map to Contact Field" or "Map to Custom Field"
- Select the specific field from the dropdown
- For Custom Fields, you may need to create the field first
- The supporter's text entry will be saved directly to their contact record
Step 5: Test your mapped questions
- Save your form with the mapped questions
- Preview or publish the form
- Submit a test response
- Check the contact record to verify that the information was correctly mapped
- Adjust mappings if necessary
