Redirects allow you to send supporters to a specific page after they submit your form, creating a seamless journey to your website or another Online Actions form.

Step 1: Access your form settings

  1. Create a new form or edit an existing form in Online Actions
  2. Progress through the Basics and Build Page steps
  3. Continue to the Confirmation step
  4. This is where you'll configure what happens after form submission

Step 2: Enable redirect functionality

  1. In the Confirmation step, locate the "Redirect URL" field
  2. By default, forms display a confirmation message without redirecting
  3. To enable redirection, you'll need to enter a valid URL
  4. Ensure the "Show confirmation page before redirect" option is set according to your preference

Step 3: Enter your redirect URL

  1. In the "Redirect URL" field, enter the full URL where you want to send supporters
  2. The URL must include "https://" or "http://"
  3. Examples of redirect destinations:
  • Your organization's website
  • A thank you page with additional information
  • Another Online Actions form (for multi-step processes)
  • A donation page (after petition signing)

Step 4: Configure redirect timing

  1. If you selected "Show confirmation page before redirect":
  2. Set the number of seconds to display the confirmation before redirecting
  3. A typical setting is 3-5 seconds, giving supporters time to see the confirmation

If you deselected this option:

  • The redirect will happen immediately after form submission
  • Supporters won't see the confirmation page

Step 5: Test your redirect

  1. Save and publish your form
  2. Submit a test entry to your form
  3. Verify that the redirect works as expected
  4. Check that the timing feels appropriate
  5. Adjust if needed and republish
