CAPTCHA helps protect your forms from spam submissions and bots while ensuring legitimate supporters can still complete your forms easily.
Step 1: Access CAPTCHA settings
- Create or edit an Online Actions form
- On the Basics step, scroll to the "CAPTCHA" section
- You'll see options for configuring CAPTCHA protection
- By default, EveryAction uses reCAPTCHA v3, which runs in the background without requiring user interaction
Step 2: Choose your CAPTCHA settings
- Select one of the available CAPTCHA options:
Disabled - No CAPTCHA protection (not recommended)
reCAPTCHA v3 - Invisible protection that scores users based on behavior
reCAPTCHA v2 - Requires users to check a box or solve a puzzle
reCAPTCHA v3 is recommended for most forms as it provides protection without disrupting the user experience
Step 3: Configure CAPTCHA behavior
- If using reCAPTCHA v3, set the score threshold:
Higher scores (closer to 1.0) are stricter but may block some legitimate users
Lower scores (closer to 0.0) allow more submissions but may let through some bots
The default setting of 0.5 is recommended for most forms
- For reCAPTCHA v2, choose between "Checkbox" or "Invisible" modes
Step 4: Test CAPTCHA functionality
- Save your form settings
- Preview or publish your form
- Submit test entries to ensure legitimate submissions are accepted
- Verify that the CAPTCHA is functioning as expected
- For reCAPTCHA v3, you won't see any visible CAPTCHA challenges during normal use
Step 5: Monitor and adjust settings
- After publishing, monitor form submissions for any unusual patterns
- If you notice spam getting through, consider increasing the reCAPTCHA v3 score threshold
- If legitimate supporters report difficulty submitting, consider lowering the threshold
- Balance security needs with user experience to find the optimal setting
