You can enhance your merge fields with contact details to make it easier for supporters to reach officials.

  1. Select the contact information to include

    1. After choosing your name display format, select contact details:

      1. Phone Number

      2. Twitter Handle

      3. Both Phone Number and Twitter Handle

      4. No contact information (name only)

  2. Consider the action you want supporters to take

    1. Include phone numbers if you want supporters to call officials

    2. Include Twitter handles if you want supporters to engage on social media

    3. Include both for maximum flexibility

  3. Be aware of Twitter handle limitations

    1. Warning: Some state-level targets do not have Twitter handles in the system

    2. If you include Twitter handles for officials without one, "their Twitter handle" will display as placeholder text

    3. To avoid this issue, verify officials have Twitter accounts by using the "Has Twitter handle" filter in Configure Advocacy

  4. Understand how contact information appears

    1. Phone numbers display in format: "(202) 224-4543"

    2. Twitter handles display in format: "@SenWarren"

    3. When both are included, they appear as: "(202) 224-4543 or at @SenWarren"

  5. Complete your merge field selection

    1. After making your selections, the merge field will be inserted into your email

    2. The syntax will reflect all your chosen options
