Background Processing FAQs
Do all native reports automatically use background processing?
No. An administrator must turn it on for each native report individually in Report Properties.
Can users keep working while a report runs?
Yes. This is one of the main benefits of background processing. You do not need to stay on the report page while the report finishes.
How will I know when my report is finished?
You get a notification in the app when the report is ready. Some users may also get an email, depending on their notification settings.
How long is the completed report available for download?
Completed exports are available for 48 hours.
Can anyone open a report that I requested?
No. Only the user who requested the report can open it.
Do I need to do anything after changing global filters?
Yes. After changing global filters, click Refresh, then run the report again.
What happens if I switch programs?
You may need to run the report again after switching to the correct program.
Can I use a background-processed report in a Bulletin?
No. Reports with background processing turned on are not supported in Bulletins.
What happens if a report already used in a Bulletin is switched to background processing?
The Bulletin may no longer save correctly, and the report field may show -- Please Select --.
Can I still use Print Mode?
Yes, but the report must be run first so there is a completed report available to print.
