A Bidder Number is a unique number assigned to each bidder that helps both you and the bidder identify their bids while an auction is active, especially when anonymity may be key.

Bidder numbers are automatically assigned in numerical order as individual participants sign up, but if you would like to use your own bidder numbers, we've detailed how in the steps below.

Step 1: Create a new bidder record

Bidder numbers are created at the same time you (or your bidders) create a bidder account, so you'll need to start by creating a new bidder record.

If you need a refresher on how to create a new bidder, click here.

Step 2: Enter your preferred bidder number in the "Bidder Number" field

When you have reached the "Add your bidder's information" screen, you should be able to update the "Bidder Number" field to whatever bidder number you'd like to assign to that participant.

Step 3: Click "Save & Exit" to finalize the update made to the bidder's record

How do I start my bidder numbers at 100 and not 1?  We have issues with 2 digit table numbers being confused with 2 digit bidder numbers.  It would simplify for our auctioneer/bidders not to be confused during the bidder process.

I would like to know how NFG can assign bidder numbers to start at 100 not number 1 when bidders sign in to our auction online.  Is there a way we could set parameters to start at 100 ourselves when we create an auction?

I would be Ok for someone to call me at 925-446-0905.

Thank you

Jodi Valentine

Hi Jodi! I know you can edit the bidder numbers, but I’m not confident that there’s a way to currently mark a certain number as the starting off point other than 1. I am off tomorrow so I’m tagging my colleague, @Charles Case here so he can test this out and confirm.

Hi @Jodi Valentine ! Bidder numbers do all start at 1. So when a bidder signs themselves up, it will auto-assign the next lowest number to them.

For you to control this, you would need to either:

  1. Import your bidders which allows you to easily assign bidder numbers on import
  2. Add bidders manually, which lets you choose their bidder number
  3. Edit a bidder already created and change their bidder number
