Adding and reporting on Contributions in EveryAction overview

Getting started

The Contributions feature in EveryAction enables your organization to track and manage a wide variety of donor support—from standard monetary donations to more complex transactions like pledges, recurring gifts, and non-cash contributions. These contributions form the foundation of your donor data and are essential to both your fundraising strategy and compliance reporting.

You can add contributions manually through a contact record or import them in bulk via file upload. Once entered, contributions become part of a contact’s giving history and can be viewed, edited, or acknowledged as needed. EveryAction also includes robust tools to help you analyze giving trends and produce reports that support internal decision-making, campaign optimization, and external compliance.

Whether you’re tracking a simple one-time gift or managing multi-year pledge commitments, the contributions tool is designed to give you clear, comprehensive insight into how donors are supporting your organization.

Feature details

Each contribution record includes critical information such as the gift amount, date, payment method, and source. You can also apply additional context by assigning a fund, solicitor, or event. These tags help with segmentation and reporting, while also supporting downstream processes like acknowledgments and donor scoring.

  • In addition to standard monetary contributions, EveryAction supports non-cash gifts such as in-kind donations and stock transfers. These can be recorded with specific details and values, ensuring accurate reporting and donor records.

  • For donors who prefer to give over time, you can use pledges and recurring commitments. Contributions tied to these commitments appear as separate records and maintain their association with the original pledge or recurring schedule. These features are particularly useful for managing long-term fundraising efforts, joint fundraising events, or automated monthly giving programs.

  • Depending on your EveryAction package, you may also be able to split a single contribution across multiple designations, projects, or funds. This is especially helpful when part of a donation is restricted or designated for a specific purpose.

  • All contributions are visible in the Contributions section of a contact record. This section allows you to view and manage each donation individually, add new contributions, and access related metrics.

You’ll also find the Contribution Summary, which displays lifetime total giving, the highest gift amount and date, the most recent gift, and the total number of gifts. These values can be filtered by year or designation for more targeted insights.

  • In addition to viewing raw donation data, EveryAction offers donor intelligence metrics to help you assess giving potential. The Donor Target Score estimates a contact’s likelihood and capacity to give, while the Request Target Score suggests the optimal solicitation range. These scores are calculated using contribution data and are visible directly within contact records.

  • If your organization is part of a national network or coalition, you may only have access to contribution data within your own committee by default. However, with cross-committee data sharing enabled, you can view giving histories across affiliated groups. This allows for a more complete understanding of donor behavior across the broader network.

  • Contributions can be tracked and analyzed through EveryAction’s built-in reporting tools. Whether you’re running a simple contributions export or a filtered fundraising analysis, these reports help uncover trends, identify top donors, and support compliance requirements.
