Overview

Defining your audience is a critical step in creating effective Direct Response Plans, as it determines who will receive your outreach.

Step 1: Navigate to the Audience step

  1. After completing the Details step in your plan creation process

  1. Click to advance to the Audience step (Note: Acquisition plans skip this step as they use external lists)

Step 2: Select your primary audience

  1. Click the dropdown to select a previously saved search to "Include in Audience"

  1. This saved search should contain all contacts you potentially want to include in your plan

Step 3: Add exclusions (optional)

  1. Click the blue text labeled "Exclude a Saved Search from your Audience"

  1. Select another saved search containing contacts you want to exclude

  1. This is useful for removing contacts who shouldn't receive this particular outreach

Step 4: Configure Financial Household settings

  1. Decide how you want to handle Financial Households in your export

  1. Select the appropriate option based on your outreach strategy

Step 5: Update counts to verify your audience

  1. Click "Update Counts" to see how many contacts meet your criteria

  1. Review the number to ensure it aligns with your campaign expectations

  1. If needed, adjust your saved searches to refine your audience
