How do I track responses to acquisition efforts?

Overview

Tracking responses allows you to measure ROI and evaluate the effectiveness of your acquisition campaigns.

Step 1: Code contributions and responses

  1. Apply the same source codes you used for your segments to any contributions received

  1. This enables tracking of ROI and measuring the influence of your mailing

Step 2: Utilize finder files (if available)

  1. If your vendor provides a Finder file at the end of your effort, ask Client Services to add it as a shadow table

  1. This allows you to add people to your contacts as they respond without extra data entry

Step 3: Track non-contribution engagements

  1. Create Activist Codes for responses to petitions or surveys

  1. Use Activist Codes to identify contacts who submit a Planned Giving Information Request

  1. Apply these codes consistently to measure engagement beyond donations

Step 4: Generate reports

  1. Use the Acquisition ROI Report in the Report Manager to track immediate responses

  1. Use the Long-Term Value Report to track donor value over time (Group By > Origin Contact Type)

  1. Review Direct Response sections of your Fundraising Management dashboard
