How do I resubscribe email addresses?
When a contact’s email address is set to Unsubscribed, you cannot change it back to Subscribed directly from their record. Follow the steps below for the available options.
Option 1: Request a manual resubscription through Support
If a contact unsubscribed by mistake and wants to rejoin your list, ask them to send you an email requesting to be resubscribed. Forward that message to EveryAction Support, and the team will update their status.
Option 2: Let supporters resubscribe using a Self-Service page
Create a Self-Service page in EveryAction that lets contacts manage their own subscription preferences. You can share the link directly with contacts who want to resubscribe.
Option 3: Enable Double Opt-In to allow resubscription through a form
To let previously unsubscribed contacts resubscribe by submitting one of your Online Actions forms, enable Double Opt-In in your Online Actions settings.
Step 1: Go to Online Actions > Settings > Subscription.
Step 2: Select Double opt-in with a Subscription Confirmation email.
(This option is greyed out if you haven’t yet created a Subscription Confirmation email in Triggered Emails.)
Once enabled, contacts who submit your form using an Unsubscribed email address will receive the Subscription Confirmation email. After they click the confirmation link, their status updates to Subscribed and Confirmed.
Step 3 (optional): Create a dedicated resubscription form by building a Signup form with the Email Signup option turned on.
Include a message explaining that the supporter will need to respond to the Subscription Confirmation email to complete the process.
Step 4: Welcome back resubscribed contacts (optional)
Create a “Welcome back!” series in Automation using the Date Resubscribed field to identify recently resubscribed contacts.
Date Resubscribed is the most recent date on which a contact’s status changed from Unsubscribed to Subscribed after confirming via the Subscription Confirmation email. Find it in the Email section of Create A List.
You can also add the Resubscribe Date column to your Email Status Report to monitor resubscribed contacts over time.
