Understanding Email Campaigns & Management
Email Campaigns & Management Overview
Once you’ve created and sent individual emails, the next step is managing your program over time. This section covers the tools that help you run multi-message campaigns, automate follow-ups based on supporter behavior, keep your subscriber list healthy, and handle common management tasks like resubscribing a contact or setting up triggered responses.
Workflow Automation is EveryAction’s primary tool for running email series — sequences of messages that send automatically based on time delays and supporter responses. Email Series is also available as a legacy tool (it will be discontinued in favor of Workflow Automation) and Email Groups let you send segmented versions of a message to overlapping lists without anyone receiving duplicates.
Subscriber management — including email status, opt-in confirmation, and resubscribing — is covered here, as is setting up Triggered Emails for events like a failed recurring payment. FastAction one-click contributions, A/B testing setup, and error message troubleshooting round out the section.

How This Feature Supports Your Work
| What the Feature Does | Why It Helps You | Real-World Volunteer Use Case |
| Automation with branching workflows | You can send a different follow-up message depending on whether a supporter clicked, opened, or ignored the previous email | A staff member creates a donor journey that sends a stronger ask to contacts who clicked but didn’t donate |
| Email Groups | Supporters who fall into multiple segments only receive one version of the message | A coordinator groups three regional versions of a fundraising email so no donor receives more than one |
| A/B testing | You can test subject lines, senders, or content to learn what drives more engagement | A volunteer tests two subject lines on 20% of the list before sending the winner to everyone |
| Triggered Emails | Autoresponders send immediately when a specific event occurs, regardless of subscription status | An administrator sets up a recurring commitment failure email that notifies donors the moment their payment declines |
| Subscription management | You track who should receive your emails and stay compliant with subscriber preferences | A staff member checks a contact’s email status before adding them to a new campaign |
| FastAction one-click contributions | Donors can complete a gift with one click from the email | A coordinator sends a renewal email where long-time donors can re-give instantly |
