Overview

EveryAction's Membership Management tools help organizations easily acquire, renew, upgrade, and steward members while automatically tracking expiration dates, benefits, and member statuses. The system applies your membership structure to each donor, handling the work of tracking where members fit within your hierarchy and assigning appropriate levels and benefits based on their current status.

Membership in most organizations is determined through a combination of time period (typically one year) and contribution amount. As members increase their giving and move to higher levels, they generally receive greater benefits and recognition. Conversely, when giving decreases or memberships lapse, members usually move down in the structure (though you can configure your system to maintain previous levels independent of current contributions).

EveryAction's Membership Management allows you to define a logical hierarchy that automatically categorizes donors, beginning with your highest membership level and working down. Once a donor qualifies for a particular level, they'll be added to that level and no others, ensuring proper categorization even when a donor might technically qualify for multiple membership tiers.

Getting Started

Before implementing EveryAction's Membership Management, you should have a clear understanding of your current membership structure. You'll need to define information such as membership levels, eligibility criteria, benefits, term lengths, join/start dates, end dates, renewal communications timing, and which donation types count toward membership. The downloadable Membership Level Setup Worksheet can help you organize this information before configuration.

Feature Details

Membership Management helps you track crucial aspects of your program, including lapsed versus current members, benefits members are entitled to at their current level, and which campaigns are most successful for targeting new members or recapturing lapsed donors. The system automatically applies your membership structure to each member, eliminating manual tracking work.

When setting up your membership structure, you'll define basic information about what to include in each level (level names, eligibility criteria, benefits, etc.) and specific information to determine the settings for that level (term length, join/start dates, end dates, renewal communication timing, etc.). You'll also need to consider how members move through your organization's hierarchy and how to handle special cases like household memberships or major donors.

Tracking Your Success / Reporting

EveryAction lets you use Designation, Campaign, Source Code, and Custom Contribution Values to track, report, and manage member acquisition and renewals. These tools help you measure which campaigns are most successful for targeting new members or recapturing lapsed donors, allowing you to optimize your membership strategies over time.
