Use these steps to personalize your Mobile Messaging broadcasts using merge fields and Smart Links.
Merge fields pull data directly from your contact records. Smart Links allow you to insert Online Actions forms that are pre-populated with a supporter’s information.
Step 1: Start a Broadcast Message

Go to Engagement in the left-hand sidebar

Select Mobile Messaging

Choose Create new, Broadcast message
Enter a message name for internal use.
Step 2: Insert Merge Fields
Merge fields allow you to pull data from your contact records into your message.

While composing your message, insert the desired merge field

Confirm the field reflects the data you want included from your records
Step 3: Insert a Smart Link
Smart Links let you insert an Online Actions form that is pre-populated with contact information.

Insert a Smart Link into your message

Select the appropriate Online Actions form
This allows supporters to click the link and see their information already filled in.
Step 4: Track Clicks and Conversions (Optional)
To track engagement:

Select Track and shorten links to enable click tracking

Link to an Online Actions form to track conversions and amount raised
If your message does not include a trackable link, the Clicked column will display a dash (–).
If your message does not include an Online Actions form, the Converted column will display a dash (–).
Important Note About One-to-One Replies
Merge Fields and Smart Links are not supported in one-to-one Inbox responses.
These tools are intended for broadcast messages.
