Actionable Insights turns donor data into real-time fundraising direction. Use it as a compass to guide smarter decisions, deeper engagement, and better outcomes.

Start Every Day With Insights

Make it a daily habit to review your Actionable Insights widget at the start of each workday. Since insights are refreshed every night, they offer the most up-to-date donor recommendations. Think of this as your morning "data briefing" to drive focus for the day.

Tip: Bookmark the homepage or set it as your landing page so the widget is front and center when you log in.

Prioritize High-Impact Insights

Use the widget to identify the most urgent or valuable actions:

  • donors who are newly at risk of lapsing

  • supporters who are ready for a giving upgrade

  • sustainers who need follow-up

  • lapsed donors with renewed engagement potential

Acting on these insights early can significantly improve fundraising performance.

Use “Run the List” Strategically

Each insight includes a “Run the List” button that instantly generates a segmented list of donors tied to that insight. This list can help you:

  • launch targeted email campaigns

  • create call or text lists

  • schedule follow-up tasks

  • export the list for use in external tools

Tip: Treat each insight as a campaign opportunity. Consider setting internal goals to act on a certain number of insights each week.

Incorporate Insights Into Planning

We highly recommend integrating insights into your ongoing fundraising strategies.

You can:

  • include donor upgrade insights in your quarterly stewardship plan

  • use retention-focused insights to support your end-of-year appeal

  • build monthly campaigns around re-engagement opportunities

This ensures your work remains both proactive and data-driven.

Collaborate With Your Team

Insights are scoped at the Committee level, meaning everyone on the same committee sees the same recommendations. Use this to your advantage:

  • share tasks across the team (e.g., one person handles upgrades, another manages sustainers)

  • review insights together in weekly team meetings

  • use shared donor lists to coordinate outreach efforts

Track Outcomes and Learn

Use the performance of past insights to refine future efforts. Monitor key metrics such as:

  • donor retention rate

  • response rates from targeted lists

  • average gift size from upgrade campaigns

Share successful tactics across your team and document what resonates best with your donors.

Final Tips

  • Stay Consistent: The more frequently you act on insights, the more value you will unlock.

  • Leverage Cross-Functionality: Coordinate with your communications, compliance, and/or operations teams for more holistic donor engagement.

  • Think Ahead: As more insights are added (including potential AI-powered ones), familiarity with the widget will set you up for even more impact later.

I would love to use this feature, however, when I click to “run the list,” no list  - for any of the actionable insights - is actually generated. The number of donors who meet each criteria is listed, but I am unable to access the list of donors when I click “run the list.” Every single one results in two contradictory error messages at the same time: “Below is a sample because your list is too large to display” and “no results found. Try broadening your search.”

Hi @mpooch Have you submitted a support ticket for this? I’m wondering if if your committee is too large and there are some technical errors happening there.

@mpooch Oh good, I do think that’s the best course of action so they can dig in a little deeper.
