Now available in October: DAF and QCD payment methods for Network for Good

Network for Good now lets you record gifts from donor-advised funds (DAFs) and IRAs as their own payment methods, with the donor and the custodian organization tracked together.

Many of you have been tracking these gifts with notes and soft credits, and we heard how much that gets in the way of reporting you can trust. Now you can record a DAF or qualified charitable distribution (QCD) gift the way it actually arrives, and the individual stays the donor.

🆕 What’s changing
Add Donation has two new Donation Payment Method options: Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Distribution and Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). Choosing either one shows an optional custodian field, “DAF Custodian” or “IRA Custodian,” where you can pick an organization or create a new one. You’ll also find new contact filters for donors who’ve given through a DAF or QCD, DAF sponsors, and IRA custodians.

👥 Who it affects
Network for Good admins and development staff who record offline gifts.

🎯 What it means for you

  • Stop using workarounds. Record the donor and the custodian instead of relying on notes and soft credits.

  • Your donor stays the donor, so stewardship, retention, and acknowledgment keep working.

  • DAF and QCD gifts are labeled on year-end statements and kept out of the tax-deductible total, with a note advising donors to check with a tax advisor. You can also build segments for DAF giving campaigns.

Donors can’t give from their donor-advised fund on your donation page yet. These payment methods are for gifts you record after the check arrives. IRS-specific QCD acknowledgment language isn’t part of this release.

⏰ Timing
Available now for all Network for Good sites, as of Oct. 14.

âś… Do you need to do anything?
No action is required. Use the new payment methods the next time you record a DAF or QCD gift.
