QCD

Hello,

I noticed there is now QCD as a payment method. When you select that payment method it will then pop up a box for you to but the Custodian of the account. I am assuming the donation goes to the Donor and then Charles Schwab, Morgan Stanley, Fidelity, etc, goes as the custodian of the account. I am confused as to when to use this feature and when using Soft Credit would be applicable. If anyone has insight on this it would be very appreciated!

      Soft credit is often use to recognize individuals who like bridge the donations - You can then use that information to pinpoint key individuals you can leverage for support in the future – and can help you make sure that the individuals who secured a gift on your behalf are properly thanked for their indirect contribution.

       

      Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)- is more of a tool to complete a donation or to send money straight from their IRA to a nonprofit instead of withdrawing it themselves.

      That definitely makes perfect sense. I believe this is fairly new as I just noticed it a couple days ago. Using soft credit was the only way we knew how to record the gifts and distinguish them for receipting purposes. I love that you guys are adding this feature!
