Overview

Power BI provides powerful visualization capabilities for your Pipeline Cloud data. Both PowerBI online and desktop versions support authentication with Azure Active Directory with MFA.

Step 1: Verify Power BI version

  1. If using Power BI Desktop, ensure you have version 2.86.727.0 or higher installed

  1. Older versions may not support the required authentication methods

Step 2: Connect to your database

  1. From the Power BI Home ribbon, select "Get Data"

  1. Select "Azure SQL Database"

  1. Click "Connect"

  1. Enter your connection information:

    1. Server: esv30ddbms001.database.windows.net

    2. Database name: [use the name provided in your invitation email]

  2. Choose whether to Import data or Connect directly

  1. Click "OK"

Step 3: Authenticate with Microsoft account

  1. On the authentication screen, select "Microsoft account"

  1. Click "Sign In"

  1. If previously authenticated, select your Microsoft account from the list

  1. If not, select "Use Another Account" and enter the email address that received the invitation

  1. Complete the multi-factor authentication process if prompted

  1. You should now be connected to your Pipeline Cloud database

Step 4: Reconnect for future sessions

  1. From the Home ribbon, select "Recent Sources"

  1. You will need to reauthenticate using the Microsoft account option

  1. Follow the authentication prompts as needed
