How do I connect to Pipeline Cloud using SQL Server Management Studio?

Before you begin

Make sure you've completed the Pipeline Cloud initial setup and have SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) version 18.6 or higher installed on your PC.

Step 1: Set up your connection

1. Open SQL Server Management Studio
2. In the Connect to Server dialogue box, enter the following settings:
   1. Server Type: Database Engine
   2. Server Name: [Your server name from the welcome email]
   3. Authentication: Microsoft Entra MFA
   4. User name: [Your Pipeline Cloud management email address]

Step 2: Configure connection properties

1. Click "Options" in the connection dialogue
2. Go to the Connection Properties tab
3. For "Connect to database," enter the database name from your invitation email
4. Click "Connect"

Step 3: Authenticate your connection

1. When prompted, sign in to your Microsoft account
2. Verify the connection using the security code from your authentication app
3. After successful authentication, you'll see your database connection in the list of available databases
