How do I troubleshoot Pipeline Cloud connection issues?
Overview
Connection issues are common when first setting up Pipeline Cloud. This guide helps you identify and resolve the most frequent problems users encounter.
Step 1: Check for invitation email
-
If you haven't received your invitation:
-
Check your spam folder
-
Search for emails from Microsoft Invitations (invites@microsoft.com)
-
Contact support if you cannot find the invitation
-
Step 2: Verify software requirements
-
For Azure Data Studio:
-
Ensure you have version 15.02 or higher installed
-
Remember that database name is required connection information
-
-
For SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS):
-
Ensure you have version 18.6 or higher installed
-
Database name must be provided in the Connection Properties tab (click Options to see this)
-
Step 3: Resolve "Login failed for user" errors
-
If you see "Login failed for user <token-identified principal>" in Azure Data Studio:
-
Click the person icon in the bottom left corner
-
Identify any linked accounts that display
-
Click the X to delete the old connection
-
Click Yes on the confirmation modal
-
Try connecting again with correct credentials
-
-
If using SSMS and encountering connection errors:
-
Double-check that you've entered the database name in Connection Properties
-
Verify you're using the correct authentication method (Microsoft account)
-
Step 4: Understand latency expectations
-
Pipeline Cloud typically has 10-15 minutes of latency
-
Contact Customer Support if latency exceeds one hour
-
Note that this product does not have any service level agreements
