Sometimes your main point of contact for a Planned Gift may be an external advisor like a financial planner, estate attorney, or tax professional. This process helps you link those contacts to your donor.

Step 1: Add a relationship to the contact record

  1. Navigate to the contact record of your donor

  1. Locate the "Manage Relationships" section

  1. Select "Add Relationships"

  1. Search for the relevant contact record (the advisor)

  1. Select the appropriate relationship type

  1. Click "Save/Search"

  1. Return to the contact record using the breadcrumb navigation

Step 2: Designate as a Planned Giving Contact

  1. Find the newly added relationship in the contact's relationships list

  1. Click the action dropdown menu (...) next to the relationship

  1. Select "Make Planned Giving Contact"

  1. This designates this person as the primary contact for planned giving matters

Step 3: Change the Planned Giving Contact (if needed)

  1. To change to a different contact, first remove the current one

  1. Click the action dropdown menu (...) next to the current Planned Giving Contact

  1. Select "Remove Contact"

  1. Only after removing the current contact can you designate another as the Planned Giving Contact

  1. Follow Step 2 to designate the new contact

Step 4: Link the relationship to a specific plan

  1. Navigate to the full Planned Giving Plan

  1. The designated Planned Giving Contact should be automatically associated with all plans

  1. If additional configuration is needed, this process requires verification
