How do I monitor payment corrections?
Overview
After implementing strategies to correct failing payments, it's important to monitor whether these corrections are successful and understand how donors are updating their payment information.
Step 1: Use the Recurring Commitment Changes Report
-
Navigate to Report Manager
-
Find and open the "Recurring Commitment Changes Report"
-
This report shows you:
-
When any change is made to a Recurring Commitment
-
What the change was
-
How the change was made
Step 2: Monitor payment information updates
-
In the report, look for changes with "Payment Information" in the Change Type column
-
This indicates that payment details have been updated
-
The report also shows who made the change (donor, staff member, or system)
Step 3: Track commitment status changes
-
Monitor the Status column in the report
-
Commitments with recent Payment Information updates should change from "Failing" to "Active"
-
Note that it may take a few days for the Status to update as payments are reprocessed on a standard schedule
Step 4: Verify successful processing with the Processing Report
-
Use the Recurring Commitment Processing Report to confirm that payments are processing correctly
-
This report displays each processing attempt for each commitment on a separate row
-
Look for successful outcomes following payment information updates
