Overview
Mastercard requires that donors have the ability to cancel their recurring gifts online. A self-service page provides this functionality while giving donors control over their giving.
Step 1: Access the self-service page creator
-
Navigate to the Online Actions section
-
Select "Self-Service Pages"
-
Click "Create New" or edit an existing self-service page
Step 2: Configure page settings for recurring gifts
-
In the setup options, ensure you've enabled:
-
Viewing contribution history
-
Managing recurring commitments
-
Canceling recurring commitments
-
-
Customize the page title and URL
-
Choose a theme that matches your organization's branding
Step 3: Add clear instructions about cancellation
-
Include text on the page that:
-
Explains how to cancel a recurring gift
-
Describes what will happen after cancellation
-
Provides alternatives to cancellation (like reducing amount or changing frequency)
-
-
Make sure instructions are visible and easy to understand
Step 4: Test the cancellation process
-
Preview the self-service page
-
Test the cancellation flow to ensure it works correctly
-
Confirm that donors receive appropriate confirmation after cancellation
Step 5: Share the self-service page link
-
Add the link to:
-
Confirmation emails after each charge
-
Donation reminder emails
-
Your organization's website
-
-
Consider adding the link to your email signature and donor communications
