How do I track changes to recurring commitments?

Overview

Tracking changes to recurring commitments helps you identify trends in your sustainer program and understand how donors are modifying their giving patterns.

Step 1: Access the Recurring Commitment Change Report

  1. Navigate to Report Manager

  1. Find and open the "Recurring Commitment Change Report"

Step 2: Understand the report data

The report shows all changes to recurring commitments, including:

  1. Changes made manually by staff

  1. Automatic updates by payment processors

  1. Changes made by donors through self-service pages
(Note: Changes made by the legacy Self-Service Portal are not included)

Step 3: Identify the change source

The "Change Source" column indicates who made the change:

  1. "Page, OA Self-Service" - Changes made by donors using your Online Actions Self-Service page

  1. Username (e.g., "Good, Jane") - Manual or bulk upload changes made by your staff

  1. Username with API as last name (e.g., "API, Transactional") - Changes made via your API

  1. "InternalAPIUser, AccountUpdater" - Automatic updates from credit card updaters when donors receive new cards

Step 4: Analyze trends

  1. Look for patterns in the changes

  1. Monitor frequency of upgrades vs. downgrades

  1. Identify common cancellation reasons

  1. Use this data to improve your sustainer program strategies
