How do I add Social Share Buttons to Online Actions forms?
Overview
Adding Social Share Buttons to your forms lets supporters easily share your content on Facebook and Twitter, while Referrer Tracking allows you to see who's taking action as a result of these shares.
Step 1: Access the form settings
-
Open the Online Actions form you want to add sharing buttons to
-
Navigate through the form creation steps until you reach the Confirmation Page step
-
This is typically the last step in the form building process
Step 2: Configure Social Sharing Information
-
Locate the Social Sharing Information section on the Confirmation Page configuration
-
Check the box for Facebook Share to enable sharing on Facebook
-
Check the box for Twitter Share to enable sharing on Twitter
-
Select Enable referrer tracking to append unique tracking IDs to shared URLs
Step 3: Customize sharing appearance
-
Add an appropriate image that will display when your form is shared
-
Enter a compelling title and description to appear with shared links
-
For Twitter shares, craft a pre-populated tweet text that's engaging but under 140 characters
-
Make sure all content properly represents your campaign and includes a clear call to action
Step 4: Save and test your form
-
Save your form settings
-
Preview your form and submit a test entry
-
Check that the share buttons appear properly on the confirmation page
-
Test both Facebook and Twitter shares to ensure they display correctly
Result:
When supporters complete your form, they will now see Facebook and Twitter sharing buttons on the confirmation page. When they use these buttons to share, the system will automatically track that they shared the form and add their unique referrer ID to the URL.
