How do I use Themes with social sharing?

Overview

If you're using a custom theme for your online forms, you'll need to ensure it works properly with social sharing by updating the theme code to include social media metadata merge fields.

Step 1: Understand the requirement

  1. By default, social sharing metatags are automatically populated on standard forms

  1. Custom themes require additional coding to properly display social sharing information

  1. Without these updates, your social shares may not display your custom image, title, and description

Step 2: Access your theme code

  1. Navigate to your theme management area

  1. Locate and open the theme you're using with your forms

  1. Access the HTML/code editor for the theme

Step 3: Add social media metadata merge fields

  1. In the <head> section of your theme, add the necessary social media metadata merge fields:

  1. For Facebook: Add Open Graph meta tags

  1. For Twitter (X): Add Twitter Card meta tags

  1. Use the appropriate merge field syntax to pull in your configured sharing content

Step 4: Test your updated theme

  1. Save your theme changes

  1. Apply the updated theme to your form

  1. Use the Facebook debugger and Twitter Card validator tools to test how your form appears when shared

  1. Make additional adjustments to your code if necessary
