Getting Started
Referrer Tracking and Social Share Buttons help you identify and measure word-of-mouth marketing by showing which supporters are sharing your forms and who is taking action as a result. These features can be accessed when building Online Actions forms, specifically in the Confirmation Page step where you'll find the Social Sharing Information section.
Feature Details
Referrer Tracking works by adding unique tracking IDs to form URLs when shared by your supporters. When these uniquely coded links are used by new supporters to take action, the system creates a connection between the original supporter who shared the form and the new supporter who completed it. This creates a trackable referral relationship.
Social Share Buttons complement referrer tracking by providing easy ways for supporters to share your forms on Facebook and Twitter directly from your confirmation page. When these built-in share buttons are used, the system automatically records that the supporter shared your content, and when referrer tracking is enabled, it adds the supporter's unique tracking ID to the shared URL.
Together, these features allow you to identify your most effective "volunteer recruiters," track which forms are being shared most frequently, determine which sharing channels are most effective, and recognize supporters who are actively helping grow your base through their personal networks.

Tracking your Success / Reporting
You can track the success of referrals using the Online Forms Custom Questions Report and Online Activity Report. These reports can be customized to show which supporters shared your forms, who they referred, which sharing channels were used, and how many actions each referrer generated. You can also view referral information directly on contact records in the Online Forms section. These reporting tools help you identify your most effective volunteer recruiters and optimize your sharing strategies.
