How do I create a User Profile in EveryAction?
Follow the steps below to create a new User Profile and assign the right level of access to your team members.
Step 1: Open User Profiles
From the EveryAction home page, navigate to Administration > Users, Profiles, and Committees > User Profiles in the left-hand sidebar.
Don't see the Users menu? Use the Search for a page field in the left-hand navigation and type User Profiles.
Step 2: Add a new profile
On the User Profiles page, you will see a list of existing profiles. Select Add New Profile.
Step 3: Enter the basic details
Enter a name and any basic details for your new profile. Make the name as descriptive as possible — this makes it easy for other administrators to identify which group of users the profile is meant for.
Step 4: Set access levels for security functions
For each security function, choose the level of access to grant:
- No Access — the user cannot use this function
- Access & Cannot Assign — the user can use this function but cannot grant it to others
- Access & Assign — the user can use this function and can grant it to other users
Note: To enable Access & Assign for any security function, you must first enable Create and Edit Users.
Step 5: Select the security functions to include
Review the available security functions and select the ones you want to enable. Functions are grouped into categories that you can collapse and expand as needed. Use the search bar to find a specific function by keyword.
For functions that include a scope setting, choose between:
- User's Committee Only — the user can perform this task only on committees they are explicitly assigned to
- All Committees — the user can perform this task across all committees in a hierarchical structure, even without being explicitly added to those committees
Most profiles should use User's Committee Only unless the user needs broader administrative access across your organization.
Step 6: Save the profile
Save your new User Profile. It will now appear in the list of available profiles and can be assigned to users.
Additional options on this page:
- Copy a profile: To create a variation of an existing profile, open it and select Save as to save it as a new profile with a new name.
- Delete a profile: A profile can only be deleted when no users — active or inactive — are assigned to it. The Delete button will only appear once that condition is met.
- Set a default landing page: You can configure a profile so users with that profile land on a specific page each time they log in — useful for users who only need access to focused tools like Virtual Phone Bank.
