How do I request an API key for Zapier?
Getting Your API Key for Zapier
Before creating Zaps, you'll need to request and generate an API key that allows Zapier to securely connect to your database.
Step 1: Navigate to the API Integrations page
-
Log in to your EveryAction or NGP VAN account
-
Use the sidebar search function to search for "API Integrations"
-
Click on the API Integrations page in the search results
Note: If this option does not appear for you, your profile may not have permission to request API keys. Speak to your organization's administrator about your request.
Step 2: Request an API key
-
On the API Integrations page, click "Request an API Key" in the upper right corner
-
Select "Zapier" from the Integration dropdown menu
-
Complete any additional required information
-
Submit your request to your organization's administrator
Step 3: Generate your key
-
After your administrator approves your request, return to the API Integrations page
-
Find your approved request and click to generate the key
-
Record your key securely when it appears - you will only see it once
-
Make note of the App Name displayed next to your key listing
Security Tip: API Keys give apps direct access to your database. Protect them the same way you would protect your password. Never share them with unauthorized users or send them via plain text in emails or texts.
