Financial Households Overview 

 

Financial Households group donors who give jointly, regardless of whether they share a physical address. They are essential for accurate donor acknowledgments, direct mail, household-level reporting, and stewardship workflows. EveryAction displays Financial Household details in the About column of each contact record. 

 

Financial Households centralize important shared information—including acknowledgment settings, salutations, envelope names, and household address—so you can ensure consistent communication and combined gift reporting. When needed, you can enable a household-level view that rolls up activity, contributions, and notes across all members. 

 

You can build and maintain Financial Households manually or through bulk upload. Bulk uploads save considerable time when you need to update many households at once. 

 

When used with Create A List, Financial Households help ensure you include all eligible donors, even when their mailable address appears only on the household record. Because Create A List filters individual address fields by default, understanding how to correctly apply householding steps is key to preparing clean mailing lists. 

 

Financial Household tools are available directly within each contact record. You’ll manage members, edit relationships, adjust the primary member, and view combined data from the same drawer. You can then use Create A List for acknowledgment workflows, segmentation, and reporting using Financial Household criteria.

As I understand it currently, Financial Household is not available via the API. This makes it extremely difficult to use with any reliability in any systematic way because of how the Financial Household interacts with merging duplicate VanIds and membership.

Hopefully this can be added in some forthcoming update. The difficulty of using this feature is pushing us to competitors’ tools.
