Understanding Workflow Automations with Que
Que’s Workflow Automations skill helps you build an automation without starting from a blank canvas. Instead of adding each step yourself in the workflow builder, you tell Que what you want to accomplish, and Que drafts the automation and guides you through setting it up. A welcome series is the perfect place to start: it makes sure every new donor hears from you, without anyone having to remember to send it.
Using the chat interface, you can ask Que to build a welcome series or describe a goal, like moving one-time donors toward monthly giving. Que drafts the full structure, then helps you set up the saved search that decides who enters the automation, review and edit the emails, and adjust the waits between them. You can ask Que to make changes in plain language, such as adding another email or lengthening a wait, and you can open the automation in the workflow builder at any time to finish the steps Que can’t fill in yet.
What can Workflow Automations with Que do for you?
Que’s Workflow Automations skill helps Dana, a Development Associate at a mid-size animal shelter, finally set up a welcome series. She knows new donors should hear from the shelter right away, but she has never built an automation and doesn’t know where to begin. She opens Que and types, “Help me build a welcome series automation.”
Que drafts every step of the automation and starts with who should enter it, suggesting donors who gave yesterday and creating a saved search she can preview. Dana likes what she sees and selects Save and attach to workflow, and the step turns green. Que then drafts the welcome email. Dana edits a line, saves it, and attaches it. The wait between emails is already set to three days, a best-practice default, but she asks Que to make it five. When Dana wants to add one more email, she asks Que to do that, too. Que tells her which parts it can’t set up yet, so she selects View in workflow builder to finish them.
Que works from the information in your account and will ask follow-up questions when it needs more context. The more specific your request, the more useful the draft will be.
