How do I generate Donor Segments with Create-a-List in Bonterra Que?

Looking to quickly identify strategic donor segments without building complex queries? Bonterra Que’s Donor Segmentation skill helps you generate prebuilt, insight-driven donor lists using industry-proven models — no advanced filters or data analysis required. 

Follow these steps below to generate usable donor segments with Bonterra Que.

Step 1: Launch Bonterra Que from your Dashboard

• Navigate to your EveryAction dashboard. 
• Click the “Ask Que” button to activate your assistant. 
• A chat window will appear on the right side of your screen. 

Step 2: Ask Que to Generate a Donor Segment

• In the Que chat, use a suggested prompt or type your own. 
  • Example: “Create a list of lapsed donors most likely to reconvert.” 
• Que will process your request using one of the pre-built DonorTrends models. 

Step 3: Review Suggested Segment Stats

Que displays an overview of the segment within the chat, including: 

• The number of contacts
• The average gift size
• A button to View the segment in My List
• A button to Edit the segment in Create-a-List

Step 4: Accept and Refine the Segment

• If the suggested segment meets your needs, click Accept. 
• To refine the list, click the “Edit in Create a List” button.
• You will be redirected to a pre-populated query in the Create a List tool. 
• From here, you can add or adjust filters as needed. 
• Save your edits — they will overwrite the initial Que-generated list. 

Step 5: Use the Segment in Campaigns or Reports

Once finalized, your segment: 

• Is saved as a Saved Search under the “Que Searches” folder.
• Can be used across: 
  • Targeted Email audiences 
  • Reporting 
  • Mobile messaging 
  • Remains accessible from your My List view.
