Setting Preferred mailing addresses via bulk upload

I’ve done a TrueNCOA process on our mailing addresses so we can get updated addresses for folks who moved.

I did a bulk import by VANID, and the addresses have been processed and added. However, it appears that for most of the people, they’re not marked as “preferred.” I can’t find any documentation about the Preferred address feature. When exporting these users for a mailing in the future, how would I make sure to pull the most recently updated address, even if it’s not marked Preferred? Or is there a way I can mark these updated addresses as Preferred?

Hey Jeff, it looks like you can run the Addresses Report (use filters like Bulk Upload Import Name and/or Date Added or My List to get the group of contact records you want), and then choose Report Actions - Bulk Edit to set Addresses as Preferred. This seems like the only bulk way except for manually.

The in-app dialog says “Only Current Addresses can be edited” and that only one address can be set as preferred, seasonal addresses cannot be set as preferred.

So I think in order to have this work for you, you’ll need to verify that the addresses you just uploaded are the same as reflected in the report, and the ones you want to set as Preferred are also marked as Current. 

(No idea other than one by one how to set the ones from your upload to Current if they’re not already though.)

This is great, thank you Sally. All my recently uploaded addresses were already marked Current, thankfully. I’m doing the bulk edit now!
