Follow the steps below to update a General Ledger fund (the account a donation is recorded under) or Cost Center (the program or department it's assigned to) on a contribution without changing the source code. Data Adjustments are useful when you need to correct accounting classifications after a contribution has been posted.
💡 Data Adjustments appear separately in the General Ledger Adjustments report. They do not change the contribution amount, source code, or donor record.
Before You Begin

Know the correct General Ledger fund or Cost Center you want to apply

Have the contribution open on the contact record or in the Contribution Report
Step 1: Open the Contribution Details Page

From the EveryAction Home Page, go to the contact's record or open the Contribution Report.

Open the contribution you need to update.
💡 If you can't find your way to the Contribution Report, use the Search for a page field in the left-hand navigation and type "Contribution Report."
Step 2: Find the Data Adjustment Option

On the contribution details page, scroll to the Accounting Information section.

Click Data Adjustment, which appears beside the Date Posted to the General Ledger field.
Step 3: Make Your Changes
A pop-up window will open. From here you can:

Delete an existing Source Code (the code that tracks how a donation was received, such as a mailing or event), General Ledger Fund, or Cost Center

Change any of those values

Add a new Source Code, General Ledger Fund, or Cost Center
Step 4: Save

Review your changes and save.
The Data Adjustment will now appear in the General Ledger Adjustments report.
