I would like to know pros and cons of manually adding bidders to auction platform to control bidder numbers assigned, either by importing registered event guests or adding manually.  Does this complicate capturing the payment method set up process?  We prefer to have guests preregister their payment method before the event NOT at the event.

Not my question:  I want to know if I should ask bidders to register for the auction or manually add them so I can control the bidder number.  Again, I try and get them to provide payment method prior to the event to save time and hassle at the event.

@Becca Orchard  sorry! I put my answer to another question on yours haha. Here is your answer:

Best-case scenario is for your bidders to sign themselves up! For a few reasons:

  1. Email address and  Mobile Phone are required. So if you’re missing either, it adds a layer of complication.
  2. Bidders get to set their communication preference: email, texts, or both.
  3. Bidders would be prompted to add their credit card info the moment they register.
  4. It gives them exposure to how the Auction works! So if they’re bidding online at all for your auction, they already have some experience accessing it and have likely already previewed your items.

You can certainly add bidders manually or import them. But when it comes to putting a card on file, that’s something that they need to do. You couldn’t even do it for them if they were in front of you. So at check-in, you’d need to have a QR code for your Auction’s login page and encourage people to log in and add their info then. I think this would dramatically slow down the check-in process.
