Step 1: Set up an Apple Developer account

  1. Enroll in the Apple Developer Program at https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/

  1. You'll need the following information:

  1. D-U-N-S Number (request one at https://www.dnb.com/duns-number/lookup.html if needed).

  1. Legal Entity Status (indicate nonprofit status if applicable)

  1. Legal Binding Authority information

Step 2: Link your payment account to Apple

  1. In your Paragon account, navigate to the Tools menu.

  1. Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) and save it to your computer.

  1. In your Apple Developer account:

    1. Register a Merchant ID with a unique description and identifier (must start with "merchant").
    2. Upload the CSR from your Paragon account.
    3. Download the resulting Payment Processing Certificate.
  1. Upload the Payment Processing Certificate back to Paragon using the link under the Apple Pay menu.

Important notes:

  • The certificate (CSR) here is different than what you need to use for step 3.

  • The certificate (CSR) typically expires every 2 years, and this process will have to be repeated.

Step 3: Link your EveryAction account with Apple

  1. After completing the previous steps, EveryAction's Client Services team will enable Apple Pay options on your account.

  1. Once notified, search for Payment Gateways in your EveryAction account.

  1. Locate your gateway and click Apple Pay Settings.

  1. Generate a new Certificate Signing Request.

  1. Upload this new CSR to your Apple Developer Account in the Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate section

  1. Download the resulting Merchant Identity Certificate.

  1. Upload this certificate back to EveryAction on the Payment Gateways page.

Important notes:

  • The certificate (CSR) here is different than what you need to use for step 2.

  • The certificate (CSR) typically expires every 2 years, and this process will have to be repeated.

Step 4: Verify your domains

  1. Register and verify every website domain where you want to use Apple Pay.

  1. Follow the steps in the How do I verify my domain for Apple Pay? Article.

Step 5: Finalizing your setup

  1. Once you are sure you have completed the entire process, please contact EveryAction at EA-Help@bonterratech.com. We will need to take one more step on our end to enable Apple Pay for your organization.

  1. Once you receive confirmation from us, you will see the option to enable Apple Pay when creating or editing any contribution forms.

Important note: Apple Pay can only be enabled on forms hosted on vanity URLs or domains outside of Online Actions for Paragon users. If your donation page URL starts with "secure.everyaction.com," Apple Pay will not be available.

What does this mean: “Apple Pay can only be enabled on forms hosted on vanity URLs or domains outside of Online Actions for Paragon users”?  All of my contribution forms have URLs that start with "secure.everyaction.com." How do I enable Apple Pay?

Hi @escott! Apple Pay requires domain verification so apple needs to confirm that the domain serving your form is authorized to process payments. EA’s shared domains like “sercure.everyaction.com” cannot do this verification process for Paragon users.

What you can do is 1. Embed your form on your org’s website domain. If your organization has a website, you can embed the EA contribution form there. Apple Pay’s domain verification will then apply to your own domain. You’ll need to complete the domain verification step inside Payment Gateways in EA once the form is live on your website. Here’s an article that walks you through how to do that:

You also could reach out to our support team to get a vanity URL for your donation forms. Your form would then live on a custom domain.

If you are having any issues doing this, I would reach out to our support team at ea-help@bonterratech.com
