Que: Best Practices and Prompt Guide for Donor Note Creation
Que is your built-in AI fundraising assistant in Network for Good. With Donor Note Creation, Que helps you capture meaningful donor interactions quickly and accurately, so your records stay current, your follow-ups stay timely, and every conversation you have becomes context Que can use to support smarter fundraising.
Getting Started with Donor Note Creation in Bonterra Que
Step 1: Open Que
From your Network for Good dashboard, click the Ask Que button to launch the assistant.
Step 2: Use a Suggested Prompt or Type Your Own
Try prompts like:
-
Add a note for Sarah Johnson that she's interested in volunteering at our annual gala.
-
Log a note from my call with Michael today. He's planning a gift before year-end.
-
Save a note for Tom Rivera: we met for lunch, he wants to be recognized in naming opportunities, follow up in 30 days.
-
Add a note that Lisa expressed interest in joining our monthly giving program.
Step 3: Confirm the Donor and Review the Note
Que will identify the donor by name. If multiple contacts share the same name, Que will ask you to clarify, for example, by confirming their email or location, before saving. Once confirmed, Que generates a clean, structured note ready to save.
Step 4: Save and Pin
Save the note to the donor's profile in Network for Good. You'll have the option to pin it to the top of the record so it's immediately visible the next time anyone opens that profile. Pinned notes are especially useful for major donor conversations, urgent follow-ups, or key stewardship moments.
Example Use Cases for Donor Note Creation
| Scenario | How Que Helps | Example Prompts |
|---|---|---|
| Logging notes after a major donor meeting | Quickly captures conversation highlights, interests, and follow-up actions without navigating away from your current task | Add a note for James Carter — we met today, he's considering a $25,000 gift for the capital campaign, follow up next week. |
| Logging notes on the go after a call or event | Use voice input on your phone to speak notes into Que immediately after an interaction, before the details fade | Log a note for Maria Gonzalez — she attended our gala last night and asked about planned giving options. |
| Capturing lapsed donor reactivation conversations | Document reactivation touchpoints so Que can track engagement and inform future outreach | Save a note for David Park — I reached out today. He lapsed two years ago but seemed interested in reconnecting. Follow up in two weeks. |
| Building a richer donor profile ahead of a campaign | Add context about donor interests, motivations, or past conversations before a major ask | Add a note for Angela Brooks: she's passionate about youth education programs and prefers email outreach. |
Prompt Guide & Best Practices: Donor Note Creation
Good donor notes aren't just records, they're the foundation of personalized fundraising. The more context Que has, the better it can help you prioritize outreach, segment donors, and suggest next steps. Here's how to get the most out of every note you log.
-
Include the Who, What, and When
The most useful notes are specific. Tell Que who you spoke with, what was discussed, and when it happened so the record is accurate and actionable.
